Why Pay Alumni Membership Dues???
(Alumni Membership Dues are only $10 for a five year period)

Our Alumni Association awards a $200 bursary annually to a graduating son or daughter of a paid-up alumni member.

When you are a paid-up alumni member we have your contact information.

The 50th Reunion Organizing Committee encountered the following questions quite often during the planning stages:

  • "I didn't get a letter about the reunion."
  • "How come so-and-so received a letter and I didn't?"
  • "I knew nothing about the reunion."
  • "Why wasn't it better advertised?"

We need current names and addresses to be able to contact you. (As well, in the future, e-mail addresses will be invaluable!) Mail-outs for this reunion were generated from a list of people who attended NGRHS Reunions in the past and those who were paid up alumni members. As well, many people got addresses of his/her family members and/or classmates for us. We DO NOT have access to old school records to obtain old home addresses. In addition to finding people, we need the funds to pay the postage cost. The more paid-up alumni members, the more money for postage and an up-to-date website.

It is extremely expensive to advertise in any form of media. For this reunion alone, the Alumni Association incurred expenses in excess of $1000 just to advertise in newspapers, on radio and mail outs. The Bridgewater Bulletin carried a notice about the reunion in its Classified section for six months. As well, many sources of free advertisement were used. The more paid-up alumni members, the more money to do a better job of advertising.

Alumni Membership is open to the following:

  1. Any person who has been registered at any time in a High School Grade of the New Germany Rural High School and who shows interest in Alumni activities of this school.
  2. Any person who has at any time attended the New Germany Rural High School and who has graduated from another institution and who still shows interest in alumni activities of this school.
  3. Present and former members of the New Germany Rural High teaching and maintenance staff.
  4. Present and former members of the school board administering the affairs of the New Germany Rural High School.

Some possible ideas for the future:

  • The resurrection of an Alumni Newsletter.
  • The continuation of an NGRHS Alumni Website
  • More frequent contact with members to obtain information, pictures etc.
  • for use in newsletters and on the website.
  • The re-establishment of an in-school Alumni Committee for students.
  • A partnership with the High School over the next number of years to have ALL Graduating Class pictures refurbished and displayed.
  • A plan for keeping the most recent grads informed of Alumni Association activities.

How to join:

Send $10 and your name and address to the NGRHS Alumni address on the Contacts Page.

None of your records have been given to us by the school, so we need some information about you. Click here.
